Resignation of the Broadway Village Board of Directors - November 15, 2018
The members of the Board of Directors of Broadway Village Homeowner's Association regret to inform all homeowners of their resignations effective November 15, 2018. In addition, our homeowner's attorney, Robert Blend has resigned as of 11/15/2018. Amber Anderson, owner of VCM, our homeowner's management company tendered their resignation but has graciously offered to stay on until 12/31/2018 to assist in the transition to a new management company. We have found the conflict and harassment from a small faction of the homeowners to be intolerable, and we can no longer perform our duties in this environment of threats and coercion.
One of the Directors was forced to resign due to the restrictions placed on her by her position as an employee of the Federal Government. Her employment contract prohibits her from being video recorded, and this dissenting faction in Broadway Village insists on doing so. Because of this she was forced to resign from the Board despite having been elected to a two year term this past May.
This faction has threatened law suites, fines, and jail terms of up to one year against the Board. They have remarked that their legal actions will send certain Board members into bankruptcy. They reported our Homeowners Management Company (VCM) to the Better Business Bureau and placed derogatory comments on Facebook. They have threatened to report our Association Attorney to the State Bar Association. They wanted our lawn service company owner's license information so they could have that license revoked. These actions threaten the livelihood of professional people with whom the Board has had no quarrels.
We have worked hard to meet the needs of the HOA members under the by-laws and CCRs of our Association. We have had little help through volunteerism from homeowners, despite requests for candidates for the Board and volunteers for committees. Recently, we have been criticized for not answering emails and verbal complaints promptly. Emergency problems have always been remedied as soon as possible, based on the schedule of the maintenance person or company. We contract with these companies and have no control over their schedules. Many of the situations we have been criticized for were never reported to the Board by the homeowner. Without their notification we had no knowledge of the problems.
Many of you have received letters, emails, and Facebook messages from a person calling himself the Broadway Village HOA Advocate. This is a self-appointed position. There is no such person recognized by the Board of Directors. He has no legal authority to act for the Board. He has spent money without prior approval of the Board and is now demanding to be paid back with your homeowner's money.
As far as the financial statue of Broadway Village, our balance sheet for November is $237,605.82. VCM will be receiving the December dues payments. However, your January payment should not go to them. When the new Board of Directors has contracted with a new management company, moved our money to a new financial institution, and hired new legal representation, we are sure they will notify all homeowners of where to send the dues.
We have enjoyed representing all of you as Board Members of Broadway Village Homeowner's Association and feel our community is better for our service. We urge all homeowners to be active participants in this community and to make sure your homeowner's dues are being spent appropriately.
